Oct 10, 2026
Fadia Al-Kharfan has won silver, and Zaid Mustafa a bronze medal at the latest round of the Grand Prix series held in Paris, France.
Featuring the world’s top 32 male and female athletes in each weight category, the event is seen as a mini-world championship and Al-Kharfan continued her remarkable run of form following gold at the Asian Games last month, with a superb run all the way to the final.
The 19-year-old won her silver in the -57kg weight following four consecutive victories to the final over Spain’s Alma Maria Perez Parrado, Tunisia’s Chaima Toumi, Morocco’s Amina El-Dahaoui and USA’s Faith Dillon.
But she lost the gold medal match to world champion and world number one, Maria Clara Pacheco of Brazil.
Mustafa secured the bronze in the -68kg weight following victories over Serbia’s Zarko Krajisnik, Bulgaria’s Stanislav Mitkov and teammate, Zaid Al-Halawani.
But in the semi-final he lost to Uzbekistan’s Najmiddin Kasimkhodjaev to settle for the bronze medal.
The medals were added to the bronze won by Jaafar Al-Daoud on the tournament’s opening day.
