Sep 29, 2026
Jordan’s leading Taekwondo fighters have conducted their first training session in the Japanese city of Nagoya where they will compete in the 20th Asian Games.
Jaafar Al-Daoud (-58kg), Zaid Mustafa (-68kg), Saleh Al-Sharabaty (-80kg), Mohammad Al-Adarbeh (+80kg), Fadia Al-Kharfan (-57kg), Razan Al-Rawashdeh (-67kg) and Rama Abu Al-Rub (+67kg) are all primded and ready for the individual contests.
Mohammad Al-Adarbeh will also participate in the Mixed Individual Virtual Taekwondo competition, an event that relies on virtual reality technology where athletes wear special equipment and sensors that capture physical movements and translate them into performance within a virtual environment, competing by executing Taekwondo movements and techniques without direct physical contact in an experience combining sport and technology.
Jordan have intensified their preparations over recent weeks under the leadership of head coach, Faris Al-Assaf, and his assistants Zaid Abu Zaid and Yazan Al-Sadeq, aiming to reach peak technical and physical readiness.
Jordan holds a rich Taekwondo history at the Asian Games, having never missed an edition since the start of Jordanian participation at the Seoul Games in 1986.
They have won 27 medals – the most for any sport - comprising three gold, 13 silver, and 11 bronze medals.
Taekwondo competitions at the Asian Games will take place from October 1-3 at the Toyohashi City Gymnasium.
