Ziad Ishaish has guaranteed Jordan another medal at the 20th Asian Games after joining his brother Hussein in the semi-finals of the Boxing competitions in the Japanese city of Nagoya.
Ziad picked up his second win in the 70kg weight, beating Tajikistan’s Shamsher Saidov in the quarter-final.
He had opened previously with a win in the round of 16 over Palestine’s Mohammad Issa.
This will be Ziad’s second medal at the Asian Games, having previously secured bronze in the 18th edition hosted by the Indonesian capital, Jakarta, in 2018.
But he will be hoping to do better by beating Japanese boxer, Okazawa, on Wednesday in the last four.
Hussein Ishaish is already in the last four of the 80kg weight and will meet South Korea’s Kim Min-seong on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Huzaifa Ishaish lost his 55kg quarter-final bout to Japanese boxer, Rui Yamaguchi.
