Sep 25, 2026
The Jordan Olympic Committee has continued its efforts to make sports as safe an environment as possible after concluding a training course titled "Safeguarding Focal Points," featuring representatives from national sports federations.
The course came within the sports safety strategy implemented by the JOC, continuing a series of courses and training programmes conducted to enhance the capacities of sports personnel, raise awareness regarding protection and prevention concepts, and provide a safe sports environment for all members of the sports ecosystem.
The course focuses on qualifying safeguarding focal points in sports federations according to a unified training curriculum, enhancing their knowledge of sports safety principles, relevant policies, procedures, alongside developing their skills in recognising indicators of abuse, violence, neglect and initial handling mechanisms.
The course also covers safe reporting and referral procedures in accordance with approved protocols, defining the role of safeguarding focal points as the primary point of contact within sports federations, thereby strengthening their ability to respond and handle potential cases and risks, while observing confidentiality and privacy.
Through the continuation of these courses and programs, the JOC is building a national network of safeguarding focal points across sports federations, bolstering the implementation of sports safety policies and unifying practices and procedures related to protection and prevention.
