Jordan’s juniors lost their opening match to Bahrain, 19-41, in their first match of the 11th Asian Men’s Junior Handball Championship, hosted at the Princess Sumaya Hall in Al-Hussein Youth City.
The championship features 11 national teams divided into two groups with Group A including South Korea, Bahrain, Jordan, India and Uzbekistan, while Group B features Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Qatar and Syria.
The top four teams from each group qualify for the quarter-finals, played as a knockout, while the four teams reaching the semi-finals guarantee qualification for the U19 World Championship, scheduled to take place in North Macedonia next year.
Jordan next face India on Sunday (6pm), before taking on South Korea on Monday at the same time. They will then conclude their group stage against Uzbekistan on Wednesday, also at 6pm.
