HANDBALL GRASSROOTS FINALS UNDERWAY WITH 360 PLAYERS

The finals of the Boys and Girls Handball Grassroots Centres kicked off today (Wednesday) within the National Grassroots Centres Programme, implemented by the Jordan Handball Federation in partnership with the Jordan Olympic Committee and in cooperation with the Ministry of Education.
The programme features 360 male and female players born in 2014 and 2015, representing 18 centres from nine governorates. This is the project’s sixth generation, which aims to discover, refine, and develop promising talent, feeding national teams and clubs in various governorates across the Kingdom with new talent.
The players receive three training sessions per week at their respective centres, following a training curriculum focused on developing fundamental, technical, physical skills under the supervision of specialised coaching staff.
The project is implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, which contributed by providing training halls, transportation for participants, supporting the programme’s continuity and reach across various governorates.
President of the Jordan Handball Federation, Dr. Taysir Al-Mansi, emphasised the importance of the programme as one of the federation’s ongoing strategic projects in scouting talent and building a strong foundation of male and female players from young age groups.
He said: “The grassroots centre’s represent a fundamental pillar in the development process of Jordanian handball.
“The outputs of these centre’s make up the entire roster of age-group national teams, as well as more than half of the senior men’s national team roster. They also contribute to supplying clubs across various governorates of the Kingdom with players, reflecting the project’s significance and its role in expanding the participation base of Jordanian handball.”
Al-Mansi added that reaching the project’s sixth generation reflects a commitment to long-term work and the sustainability of talent discovery and development, praising the partnership with the Jordan Olympic Committee in supporting the project and achieving its goals.
He expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Ministry of Education, Jordan School Sports Federation, Ministry of Youth for their cooperation, support for the project, and contribution to providing the suitable environment to sustain the grassroots centres and achieve their objectives.
The finals of the grassroots centres will continue on Thursday at the Princess Sumaya Hall featuring the boys’ centres, while the events will conclude on Saturday at the Al-Hassan Hall in Irbid Governorate.
