JORDAN TRIO TO OFFICIATE SPAIN’S OPENING MATCH

The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has announced that the Jordanian refereeing trio will officiate the match between Spain and Cape Verde, scheduled for Monday, as part of the first round of Group H action in the 2026 World Cup.
The Jordanian crew consists of referee Adham Makhadmeh, alongside assistant referees Ahmad Al-Roalle and Mohammad Al-Bakkar.
Makhadmeh will make history as the first-ever Jordanian referee to take charge of a match at the World Cup finals, marking a new milestone for Jordanian refereeing on the international stage.
Jordanian recorded its historic first-ever appearance for an official in the World Cup through the late assistant referee, Awni Hassouneh, who participated in the 2002 World Cup in South Korea and Japan.
