CROWN PRINCE BACKS AL-NASHAMA AT WORLD CUP

His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II has shown his support for the Jordan football team by turning up to a training session ahead of the World Cup start this week.
During an interview on BeIN Sports from the Nashama’s camp in San Diego on Tuesday, His Royal Highness pointed out that winning or losing in friendly matches is not what matters most following the two defeats in the past week.
He noted that “when it comes to crunch time, the Nashama will make us proud” emphasising that the true importance of these preparatory matches lies in immersing the team into the World Cup atmosphere.
His Royal Highness explained that the team’s achievements over the past three years have given Jordanians a feeling they experienced for the very first time, providing a strong incentive to continue developing the entire sports ecosystem.
The Crown Prince said that the Nashama “made us hold our heads high and boosted our morale” during their participation in the Asian Cup and Arab Cup tournaments where they reached both finals.
He added that they created a unique phenomenon among Jordanians through their determination and confidence on the pitch, making the entire nation feel that the team reflects and represents them.
“Today, this tournament represents our opportunity to showcase our Jordanian and Arab culture to the world,” he told the station.
His Royal Highness pointed out that Jordan’s group in the World Cup is not easy, but confidence in the Nashama is immense that they will deliver an honourable performance.
He confirmed that the players’ morale is high, and that their physical and mental readiness is at the absolute highest levels.
Furthermore, His Royal Highness mentioned that a number of the Nashama players are graduates of the Prince Ali Youth Centres and emphasised the necessity of passing down the experience of the current generation representing the national team to the youth setups to build for the future and forge a clear and distinct Jordanian football culture.
The Crown Prince continued that the Nashama are not just a story of current achievement and joy; rather, investment in sports must be sustained to reach advanced levels across all athletic disciplines.
His Royal Highness expressed his optimism regarding the level of representation of Arab teams in this edition of the World Cup. He concluded by stating that, as Jordanians, if any Arab team wins or qualifies, “we will feel just as proud and joyful as we do for our own national team, as any Arab achievement at the institutional or individual level makes us hold our heads high and represents us all, for we are one nation, with one goal, and one vision”.
