JOC SECRETARY GENERAL OUTLINES IMPORTANCE OF SPORT IN UNIVERSITY LECTURE

Rana Al-Saeed, Secretary General of the Jordan Olympic Committee, has participated in a lecture organised by the University of Petra Club as part of the ‘Petra Cultural Salon’ activities.
The lecture, entitled The Role of the Olympic Committee in Developing Jordanian Sports’, was attended by several members of the academic and administrative staff, as well as university students.
During the lecture, Al-Saeed reviewed the pivotal role played by the JOC in leading and developing the Kingdom sports movement in the Kingdom.
She pointed that this is achieved by supporting national sports federations, preparing athletes, and promoting sports participation across various levels, contributing to accomplishing milestones and elevating the status of Jordanian sports regionally and internationally.
Al-Saeed also addressed the most prominent programmes and initiatives implemented by the JOC in the fields of athlete preparation, spreading sports culture, and expanding the foundation of sports practice, alongside its efforts in consolidating the principles of governance, sustainability, and developing the sports sector.
She emphasised the importance of partnership between academic and sports institutions in building a generation aware of the significance of sports and its role in community development, praising the role that Jordanian universities play in supporting the sports and youth movement.
The lecture featured an interactive discussion with the audience, where Al-Saeed answered inquiries from students and participants regarding the reality of Jordanian sport, future challenges and opportunities, as well as JOC’s vision.
