The Jordan Olympic Committee has honoured the Jordanian refereeing trio who will be officiating at the FIFA World Cup, which kicks off next month.
Head referee, Adham Makhadmeh, and assistants Ahmad Al-Rowaili and Mohammad Al-Bakkar will be travelling across the Atlantic for the six-week tournament being held in the USA, Mexico and Canada.
Mohammad Alian, board member of the Jordan Olympic Committee, praised the achievement, noting that it reflects the significant development witnessed by Jordanian refereeing and the distinguished reputation it has garnered at both continental and international levels.
The ceremony was also attended by Ismail Al-Hafi, international instructor at the Jordan Football Association’s Refereeing Department.
The Jordanian trio are one of only four Asian refereeing teams chosen to officiate at the World Cup, after successfully passing a series of theoretical and practical tests organised by FIFA, in accordance with strict standards ensuring the referees' readiness for the world's biggest football event.
