Ghaith wins world karate bronze

Karate star Afeef Ghaith has clinched the bronze medal in the first round of the Karate World League hosted in the French capital, Paris.
Ghaith secured third spot after beating Azerbaijan’s Tural Agalarzada, 6-2, in the -67kg competition.
Ghaith launched his campaign with a victory over Germany’s Mohammed Ozdemir, 8-0, before beating Japan’s Hiroki, 5-1. He continued his winning streak by defeating Portuguese fighter Mendes, 3-0.
In the quarter-finals, Ghaith beat Kazakhstan’s Amirali Dildar, 3-1, but then lost to Morocco’s Said Abaya 7-9 in the semi-final to drop into the bronze content. But he wasn’t to be disappointed as he beat his Azerbaijani opponent to clinch the medal.
