The classification tournament for the 2023 season (Solidarity Championship) continued today (Saturday), organised by the Jordan Tennis Federation on its courts at Al-Hussein Youth City. The tournament, which started last Thursday, includes approximately 154 players in 15 different age categories. The first stage of the tournament concluded today, and the second stage will continue next Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Upon the completion of this stage, the local rankings for players in Jordan will be issued with the Federation hoping to organise the tournament annually to promote the sport, expand the local player base, discover new talent, and select players for national teams. The tournament carries the name ‘Solidarity’ this year, showing support to the current situation in the Gaza Strip with the Federation allocating a portion of the event’s proceeds to support the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation in providing relief aid to the area.
