Hanan Nasar is into the quarter-finals of the women’s -50kg boxing weight division after beating Vongfatchan Vilavong, from Laos in Hangzhou, China. The referee stopped the bout as Nasar controlled throughout, booking a last-eight fight with India’s Nikhat Zareen on on Friday. Teammate Odai Al-Hindawi lost his opening round match fight to Iran’s Tofan Sharifi, after the fight was stopped due to injuries sustained by both boxers in the first round, with the referee deciding the Iranian was in the lead. Tomorrow, Thursday, Ziad Ishaish will continue his bid for glory with a second-round fight against Japanese boxer Medan Okazawa in the -71kg weight category. Ishaish was in commanding form when he stopped the UAE’s Hussein Al-Kindari earlier this week.
