Mohammed Al-Jafari has won a bronze medal at the opening round of the 2023 Karate World Premier League in Cairo, Egypt. Al-Jafari reached the knock-out stages of the -84kg competition after topping his group with victories over Garipovic, of Croatia; Cameron Madani, of the USA, and Shan Wei, of Chinese Taipei. The reigning Islamic Solidarity Games champion then lost in the last eight to Italy’s Matteo, dropping him to the bronze medal match where he beat Azerbaijan’s Amayev Aikhan. The Premier League consists of four rounds, and will move on to Rabat (Morocco), Fukuoka (Japan) and Dublin (Ireland).
