JOC EXECUTIVE OFFICE DISCUSSES COVID-19 IMPACT
Apr 30, 2020
The Jordan Olympic Committee (JOC)’s Executive Office has held an e-meeting to discuss the impact of freezing all sporting activity due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The JOC announced on March 14 that all sport should stop following instruction from the Prime Minister to prevent the virus spreading through the community. The JOC has set up a task force that will recommend how sport can be re-introduced safely in the near future and the meeting heard from JOC Secretary General, Nasser Majali, who has spearheaded the task force, provided an update with the latest initiatives to be presented to the Government. The JOC is also planning for the short term by listening to the national sports federations and national teams, as well as contacting the international sporting bodies to stay updated with the latest developments. Officials also praised the tremendous dedication shown by Jordan’s sports men and women who have continued to train at home throughout the period of isolation, while pointing out that JOC staff have been working remotely behind the scenes to ensure that sport has continued to tick over.
