JORDANIANS TAKE CENTRE STAGE THURSDAY AT OLYMPIC BOXING QUALIFIERS

Two of Jordan’s most prominent sports stars will be launching their bids to qualify for this summer’s Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games on Thursday.
Obada Al-Kasbeh and Odai Al-Hindawi are both in action during the morning session (from 11am) at the Asian/Oceanian Road to Tokyo 2020 Boxing qualifying event in Amman, hoping that a home crowd will help them reach their respective quarter-finals.
Asian silver medallist and 2016 Olympian Al-Kasbeh will meet Japan’s Daisuke Narimatsu, the 2018 Asian Games bronze medallist in the 63kg division, while Al-Hindawi faces Jolando Taala, of America Samoa, who is seeded fourth in the 81kg weight.
Both Jordanians received byes in their first rounds of their competitions, and know that two wins each will see them qualify for Tokyo 2020.
The action is taking place at Prince Hamzeh Hall and will run through to March 11.
