JORDAN TO HOST ANOTHER WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
May 06, 2018
Jordan’s portfolio for hosting World Championships is set to include another sport next week.
Aqaba will be the venue for the 14th International Waterski and Wakeboard World Cup at the Ayla Beach Resort from May 10-12, and it will be held under the patronage of HRH Prince Feisal Al Hussein, President of the Jordan Olympic Committee (JOC).
Ayla was chosen after it had hosted a number of world-class events in recent years, and this latest Championship will further position the Red Sea city as a serious sporting venue.
Engineer Sahel Dodeen, CEO of Ayla, said: “It is a great honour for us to host this event, particularly as it will be held under the patronage of HRH Prince Feisal who is working tirelessly to promote Jordan through sport.
“The Jordan sports scene has improved hugely over recent years under HRH Prince Feisal’s leadership and we are looking forward to playing our part to showcase Jordan as a wonderful destination.”
The Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority and Jordan Tourism Board have signed up as main partners for the World Cup.
