WINS FOR SYRIA, IRAN AT WEST ASIAN OPENERS

The 17th West Asian U18 Basketball Championship launched today at Prince Hamzeh Hall in Al Hussein Youth City.
Syria registered a win in the opening match, beating Iraq 104-97 in a thrilling contest, while Iran beat Lebanon 85-46.
The hosts Jordan will face Lebanon on Sunday at 6pm, but prior to that Iraq will meet Iran at 4pm.
The top three from the five-team tournament will secure their places in the Asian Cup to be held in Thailand in April.
