JU JITSU TARGET MEDALS IN ASHGABAT

 Such is the confidence in our Ju Jitsu fighters these days it is not a case of 'will they' but 'how many' when it comes to medal winning at the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games from 17-27 September.

A number of the squad have won medals on the world stage over the last year, making them favourites for a medal haul next month.

Under the supervision of coach Zeid Abu Al S’ood, the team is going through its final preparations before travelling to Turkmenistan.

“I’m happy with our preparations," he said.

“The players are excited to be a part of this squad and are focused on what they need to do.

“We have World Champions among us who are still hungry for more.

We know how tough it will be in Turkmenistan, but we will be ready to be on podium.”

Sisters Lama and Rana Qubbaj have both been world champions while on the men's side Haider Al Rasheed has also shown he is one of the best on the planet.

Men: Abdulmajeed Al Fa’uri (-77kg), Hamzeh Al Rasheed (-77kg), Haidar Al Rasheed (-85kg), Mohammad Khair (-69kg), Abdullah Nabbas (-69kg), Zeid Shamseldein (-94kg), Sabri Bajj (94kg) and Bader Al Khuza’ee (-85kg).

Women: Lama Qubbaj (+70kg), Rana Qubbaj (-70kg) and Ruba Al Sayegh (-62kg).
