Feb 01, 2017
Jordan picked up their third win from three games in the West Asian Basketball Championships on Tuesday night, as favourites Iran slipped up against Lebanon. Jordan overcame a plucky Palestine 90-75 at the Fuhais Club with Mahmoud Abdeen top scoring with 30 points. Jamal Abu Shmaleh starred for Palestine with 23 points. Lebanon also picked up their third win in a row with a stunning 65-62 victory over reigning champions Iran, thanks largely to the scoring of Fadi Al Kahteeb who bagged 21 points. In Tuesday’s other match, Iraq beat Syria 66-53. Jordan and Lebanon top the table, with the pair set to go head to head on Wednesday night at 5pm in a match that could decide the championship. In other matches, Iran meet Iraq at 3pm and Syria play Palestine at 7pm.
