JOC BOARD APPROVES BUDGET

The Jordan Olympic Committee (JOC) has confirmed that its national sports federations will share more than JD9 million in funding for 2014.
The budget was approved this week for a total of JD1,157,000 with the direct finance to the federations increased by JD756,000. In addition, JD75,000 will be made available for more anti-doping tests for athletes representing Jordan abroad; JD650,000 towards the ongoing 2016 Olympic preparations and JD130,000 for health insurance for all athletes.
Under the Presidency of HRH Prince Feisal the JOC has also requested the Higher Council for Youth to allocate land in Sport City to develop an integrated sport centre to serve athletes, which will include a gymnasium, physiotherapy and rehabilitation clinic as well as a health food centre.
Meanwhile, Nadin Dawani has been nominated to be the Chef de Mission for Jordan’s delegation attending the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China in August.
The JOC board’s monthly meeting concluded with a presentation from the Communications Centre staff on a new communication and marketing strategy with initiatives to support the vision of JOC and increase awareness towards sport.
