AZIZ MISSES OUT ON GOLD

Ziyad Aziz has settled for silver at the 2nd Oman Gas Company Open Table Tennis Championships after losing a thrilling final in Muscat.
The Jordanian star lost to Bahrain's reigning champion Anwar Makki 3-2 to pick up a runners-up cheque of $2,000.
Aziz looked set to win after racing into a 2-0 lead with 11-8 and 13-11 leg wins, but Makki bounced back to take the next three legs 11-9, 11-7 and 11-3 for victory.
On his way to the final, Aziz beat Bahrain's Hamad Bu Haji 3-2 in the semi-final and Lebanon's Fadi Kiwan 3-0 in the quarterfinal.
His teammate Zaid Abu Yaman left in the quarterfinal stage after losing to Haji 3-1.
Thirteen countries took part including Iran, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Philippines, India, Nigeria, Italy, Bahrain, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and Egypt.
