Jordan’s rising Taekwondo stars are continuing their intensive training ahead of the 4th Youth Olympic Games, hosted by the Senegalese capital Dakar from October 31-November 13.
The Kingdom is being represented by Layan Al-Rawashdeh, Zainab Bseiso, Abdullah Al-Zawahreh and Ahmad Al-Dahamsheh, under the supervision of head coach, Faris Al-Assaf and coach, Mohammad Al-Assaf.
The Taekwondo kicks off on November 8 and runs through to November 12 with Jordan hoping to add to the three medals previously won at the Youth Olympics by Jordan.
Al-Assaf confirmed that the team had intensified its preparations over the past month with the goal of reaching the highest levels of technical and physical readiness before the start of competitions.
He said: “We are determined to build on Jordanian taekwondo’s proud record of success, particularly at the Youth Olympic Games. Over recent months, we have intensified our training programme to ensure our athletes are fully prepared, and we are confident they can deliver strong performances and challenge for medals in Dakar.”
The three previous medals were won by Dana Haider (silver) and Yazan Al-Sadeq (bronze) at the inaugural 2010 edition in Singapore, while Zaid Mustafa won the bronze medal at the Buenos Aires 2018 edition.
