PARALYMPICS SILVER FOR JORDAN

Three weeks to the day since Ahmad Abu Ghaush won gold for Jordan at the Olympic Games, Omar Qarada has secured a silver medal for Jordan at the Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. The powerlifter lifted an incredible 177kg in the 49kg weight to secure silver behind Cong Le Van of Vietnam who took gold with a lift of 181kg. Bronze went to Hungary’s Nandor Tunkel. Meanwhile in table tennis, Osama Abu Jame lost his first match 3-1 and former gold medallist Maha Barhouthi lost her opening match 3-0.
Meanwhile, Khetam Abuawad has won her first group match in the table tennis singles at the Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. The 41-year-old beat Albor Paredes of Mexico 3-0 overnight and will play again today in the session that starts at 7pm.
Also in table tennis, Maha Bargouthi will be looking to bounce back from her opening day defeat when she plays Ireland's Roon McCarron, while OsamaAbu Jame will also look to bounce back from his loss yesterday against Young Jeyoung from Korea tonight also.
