BUILDING A SAFER SPORTING ENVIRONMENT
Aug 15, 2026
The Jordan Olympic Committee (JOC) has conducted a training course to further improve safeguarding and to make sport a safe and welcoming environment for all.
The Safeguarding Basics for Safeguarding Focal Points workshop welcomed representatives from national sports federations, spanning over two days.
The course falls under the Sports Safeguarding Strategy projects aimed at building capacity within sports federations and enhancing the implementation of safeguarding concepts and policies to contribute to providing a safe sporting environment for all members of the sports ecosystem.
The course aims to qualify safeguarding focal points across sports federations according to a unified training curriculum and elevate their knowledge of sports safeguarding principles, instructions and policies, alongside developing their skills in recognising indicators of abuse, violence and neglect through initial response mechanisms.
Furthermore, the course highlights safe reporting and referral procedures in accordance with approved protocols, as well as the role of safeguarding focal points as the primary point of contact within sports federations, contributing to fostering a culture of prevention and effective management of potential cases and risks.
Through this course, the JOC seeks to build a national network of safeguarding focal points within sports federations, supporting the implementation of the sports safeguarding system and contributing to establishing a safe and sustainable sporting environment.
