HRH PRINCE FEISAL BACKS OLYMPIC DAY

The Jordan Olympic Committee has hosted an event to mark Olympic Day under the patronage of its President, His Royal Highness Prince Feisal Al Hussein.

Held in Arena Hall, Al-Hussein Youth City, the event was attended by HRH Princess Alia bint Al Hussein, HRH Princess Ayah bint Feisal, His Excellency Minister of Youth Dr. Raed Al-Adwan, and JOC Secretary General, Rana Al-Saeed.

Children from the Sana Association for Special Care joined national team athletes and a number of Jordanian Olympic champions at the event, to play a range of sports activities conducted under the supervision of Generations for Peace.

This participation presented a practical model for the concept of total inclusion in sport by offering children with Down Syndrome the opportunity to join elite athletes in a shared sporting activity.

Al-Saeed highlighted that organising the Olympic Day event aligns with the committee’s mission to spread Olympic Values, enhance the role of sport in developing a child’s character, and provide them with the opportunity to engage in sporting experiences that solidify the values of friendship, respect, and excellence.

At the conclusion of the event, HRH Prince Feisal awarded participants to mark their involvement.

Coinciding with Olympic Day, the International Olympic Committee launched the You Can Do It! Let's Move initiative, which encourages all ages to undertake physical activity and to make sport a part of their daily lives through more than 150 events and initiatives organised worldwide.
