TRIPLE BRONZE FOR JORDAN AT KARATE WORLD LEAGUE

Jordan have won three bronze medals at the first round of the Karate World League in Istanbul, Turkey.
The event attracted 376 of the best fighters from 65 countries, but Jordan shone brightly, with Abdullah Hammad (-60kg), Abdulrahman Al-Masatfa (-67kg) and Mohammad Al-Jaafari (-84 kg) all finishing on the third step of the podium.
Hammad’s bronze came after defeating France’s Sami Tass 5-1, having earlier recorded three victories in the group stage, topping his group before losing in the quarter-finals and dropping into the bronze medal contest.
Al-Masatfa earned his bronze medal with a 5-3 win over Japan’s Yugo Kozaki. He also topped his group and then won his quarter-final, but then lost in the last four to go into the bronze medal group matches.
Meanwhile, Al-Jaafari’s bronze came with victory over Japan’s Rikito Shimada, 3-0. Al-Jaafari had also topped his group with three wins before exiting in the quarter-finals.
The Karate World League consists of four rounds this year, to be held in Istanbul (Türkiye), Rome (Italy), Lishui (China), and Rabat (Morocco).
