SPREADING THE POWER OF SPORT TO AJLOUN
Jan 11, 2026
he first sports initiative activities under the Community Sport Project officially kicked off on Sunday in Ajloun Governorate, with the organisation of a handball activity for children, implemented by Community Sport Teams under the supervision and patronage of the Jordan Olympic Committee (JOC).
This activity marks the first practical implementation of the sports initiatives designed and delivered by Community Sport Leaders, who previously participated in specialised training courses organised by the JOC.
These leaders were trained on the mechanisms of designing, planning and implementing community sport projects that serve their local communities.
The project is scheduled to include the implementation of 80 sports activities throughout 2026, at a rate of 20 activities every three months, distributed across various governorates of the Kingdom. The activities will target different age groups and address the specific needs of local communities.
It is worth noting that the JOC had previously concluded a series of “Community Sport Leaders” training courses, implemented by the Sport for All Department as part of the Community Sport Initiatives Support and Empowerment Project.
These courses empower young men and women to design and implement community-based sports initiatives that contribute to sustainable development and promote sport as a way of life.
