Dec 03, 2025
Jordan have launched their Arab Cup campaign with a hard earned 2-1 victory over the United Arab Emirates on Wednesday in Doha, Qatar.
Ali Al-Alwan scored Jordan’s opening goal in the 20th minute from the penalty spot, after Yazan Al-Naimat was brought down.
Al-Naimat won another penalty in the 39th minute, but Al-Alwan was unable to convert his second spot kick.
The UAE equalised in the 47th minute, early in the second half, before Al-Naimat - the standout performer of the match - scored the decisive goal for Jordan in the 63rd minute.
With this result, Jordan tops Group C with three points, ahead of Egypt and Kuwait, whose match ended in a 1–1 draw.
Jordan will play its second group-stage match on Saturday at 2pm against Kuwait at Ahmed bin Ali Stadium.
