The FIVB Volleyball Foundation today announced that HRH Princess Ayah Bint Faisal has been confirmed as its next President.
A long-standing advocate for the power of sport to uplift communities, Princess Ayah will help drive the Volleyball Foundation forward as it continues to connect, serve and inspire people around the world through volleyball.
Reflecting on her appointment, Princess Ayah said:
“I am grateful for the trust placed in me to lead the FIVB Volleyball Foundation. Volleyball teaches important skills like discipline, teamwork and confidence, and it can help to break stereotypes, build confidence in individuals and bring people together. I look forward to building on the Foundation’s achievements and working with our partners and projects to ensure volleyball continues to do all of these things, and empowers even more people through this wonderful sport.”
Building on her previous role as a Volleyball Foundation Board Member and Ambassador, Princess Ayah brings extensive leadership and volleyball experience as President of the Jordan Volleyball Federation, a Board Member of the Jordan Olympic Committee and an FIVB Board of Administration Member.
Princess Ayah has been a vocal advocate for increasing the visibility and influence of women in sport, both on the court and in leadership roles. Additionally, through her work with the Volleyball Foundation, she has emphasised the potential of volleyball as a platform for growth and opportunity, highlighting her mission to promote values like collaboration, resilience and equality while opening doors for aspiring athletes with limited access to sport.
“I have had the privilege of seeing Princess Ayah’s dedication to volleyball and to communities first-hand,” said FIVB President and outgoing interim Foundation President Fabio Azevedo. “She empowers people through volleyball; visiting projects, listening to athletes and making sure she does everything possible to help our sport have a positive impact. Her energy, vision and leadership make her the perfect person to guide the Volleyball Foundation into its next chapter, and I am excited for what’s to come as we work together as one.”
