TON-UP FOR JORDAN AGAINST SYRIA
Nov 30, 2025
Jordan completed a double over Syria with a 100-48 victory to continue the perfect start to their Asian Qualifiers for the 2027 FIBA World Cup (Qatar).
The game was held at Prince Hamzah Hall in Al-Hussein Youth City and marks Jordan’s second consecutive victory over Syria, following Thursday’s 74-59 win. It puts the national team on four points in Group C, which also includes Iran and Iraq.
The Asian Qualifiers feature 16 national teams, divided into four groups of four teams each, competing in a two-phase home-and-away round-robin format.
The top three teams from each group will advance to the second round, except for the group that includes host nation Qatar, which already has a guaranteed spot in the next round and the World Cup - meaning only two teams from that group qualify.
In the second round, the 12 qualified teams will be placed into two groups of six. All first-round results carry over, and each team will face the three opponents from its new group that it has not yet played, again in home-and-away format.
The top three teams from each second-round group, along with the best fourth-place team, will qualify for the FIBA World Cup, joining tournament hosts Qatar.
