Jordan has won an historic gold medal at the World Karate Championships after Afeef Ghaith claimed his weight category in Cairo, Egypt.
Ghaith became the first Jordanian to win gold in kumite (individual combat) at the World Championships since the tournament’s inception in 1970.
He earned his gold in the -67kg category, defeating Morocco’s Saeed Oubya with a dominant 6-0 victory in the final — marking his seventh consecutive win in the championship.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Al-Jaafari claimed a bronze medal in the -84kg division, after defeating Tunisia’s Ryan Al-Ghazwani 10–0, repeating his achievement from the previous edition, where he also won bronze.
