AL-KHARFAN WINS WORLD BRONZE

Fadia Al-Kharfan has won a brilliant bronze medal for Jordan at the World Taekwondo Challenge, hosted in Bangkok, Thailand.
Seventeen-year-old Al-Kharfan, opened her campaign in the -57kg weight category with a 2–0 victory over Thailand’s Oruwan Ratsamiprapa in the Round of 32.
In the Round of 16, she continued her strong performance with a 2–0 win against Uzbekistan’s Madina Mirabzalova.
She then advanced to the quarter-finals, where she defeated the reigning world champion, Brazil’s Maria Clara Pacheco, 2-1.
But in the semi-finals, Al-Kharfan fell to China’s Chuling Zhang 0-2, sending her into the bronze-medal match, where she secured the medal with a 2-1 victory over the USA’s Olympian, Faith Dillon.
Al-Kharfan is on a strong run of form having won bronze last month at the World Championships held in Wuxi, China.
