CAN JIU-JITSU JOIN THE JORDAN MEDAL RUSH AT ISLAMIC GAMES?

Jordan’s Jiu-Jitsu team have launched their campaign at the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games, currently being held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Competing on the opening day were Yousef Abu Al-Raghb (-85kg) and Fawaz Haddadin (-94kg), with the former advancing from the Round of 16 by defeating Turkey’s Mert Özmen,
But he later fell in the quarter-finals to the UAE’s Saeed Al-Kubaisi.
He entered the repechage bracket for a chance at bronze, winning his first repechage match against Pakistan’s Zakir Abbas, before losing his second to Iran’s Ali Akbarpoor, ending his run.
Meanwhile, Haddadin opened his campaign with a Round of 16 victory over Iran’s Pouria Taherkhani, but was defeated in the quarter-finals by the UAE’s Abdullah Al-Kubaisi.
He also moved into the bronze-medal repechage but was unable to claim the medal after losing to Kuwait’s Imad Al-Sumait.
The team continues its participation on Friday, with Osama Nabbs competing in the -77kg weight category.
