Fencers launch Islamic Games campaign

Jordan’s fencers launched their campaign on Tuesday at the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games, being held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Dina Al-Mansi and Shahd Al-Kaloub competed in the women’s épée event, hosted at the Boulevard Arena.
Al-Mansi delivered a strong performance in the ranking round, securing three victories over Azerbaijan’s Aynar Guliyeva, Bahrain’s Maryam Khan, and the UAE’s Sheikha Al-Zaabi. But she suffered two losses against Uzbekistan’s Shahzoda and the UAE’s Rihana.
In the Round of 32, Al-Mansi defeated Bahrain’s Maryam Khan 15–4, before exiting the competition in the Round of 16 after a 4–15 loss to Turkey’s Ilyana Erturk, the defending champion.
Meanwhile, Al-Kaloub achieved one victory in the ranking round against Qatar’s Sheikha Ali, while losing three matches.
Al-Kaloub was then eliminated in the Round of 32 after an 8–15 defeat to Kyrgyzstan’s Munira Mirzatova.
The national fencing team will resume its participation on Thursday, when it competes in the women’s épée team event.
