More Golds for Jordan at Islamic Solidarity Games

Jordan’s taekwondo team enjoyed a strong start at the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with Zaid Mustafa and Jaafar Al-Daoud claiming two gold medals on Saturday.
Mustafa secured gold in the -74kg category, while Jaafar Al-Daoud earned gold in the -54kg category.
Both athletes received their medals from Jihad Qutaishat, Vice President of the Jordan Olympic Committee and head of the Jordanian delegation, and Nancy Al-Hindi, board member of the Jordan Taekwondo Federation.
The pair of gold medals raised Jordan’s tally at the Games to 10 medals: 3 gold, 2 silver, and 5 bronze — marking Jordan’s best-ever medal haul since the Games began in 2005.

Round of 16: defeated Tajikistan’s Nurullo Farukhovich Muradov 2–0
Quarterfinal: beat Gabon’s Amar Sissy Moussa 2–0
Semifinal: overcame Azerbaijan’s Javad Aghayev 2–1
Final: defeated Uzbekistan’s Najmiddin Qosimxojaev, the reigning world champion, 2–0
Jaafar Al-Daoud’s Road to Gold
Round of 16: beat Guinea’s Mamadou Bella Diallo 2–0
Quarterfinal: defeated Tunisia’s Mohamed Amin Zaghlami 2–0
Semifinal: overcame Uzbekistan’s Jakhongir Khodiberdiyev, world bronze medalist, 2–0
Final: triumphed over Saudi Arabia’s Abdullah Al-Mashref to secure the gold medal
On the women’s side, Fadia Al-Khurfan left the competition in the quarter-finals of the -57kg category after a 1–2 loss to Kazakhstan’s Kamila.
The taekwondo team continues its campaign tomorrow, with Mahmoud Yousef (-60kg) and Saleh Al-Sharabaty (-82kg) set to compete.
