Tqateqah Wins Bronze at Asian Youth Games

Jordan’s Rania Tqateqah secured the bronze medal on Saturday evening in the Taekwondo at the Asian Youth Games, in Manama, Bahrain.
Tqateqah claimed bronze in the -55kg category, raising Jordan’s taekwondo medal tally at the Games to four medals — one silver and three bronze.
Her journey to the podium began with a 2-0 victory over Saudi Arabia’s Gharam Mansour in the Round of 16, followed by a 2-1 win against Kyrgyzstan’s Nazgul Chapaeva in the quarterfinals. In the semi-finals, she lost 0-2 to Uzbekistan’s Rakhshanakhon Rafshanova, earning the bronze medal.
In other results, Laith Dakhla Allah exited the -73 kg competition in the quarter-finals, after losing 0-2 to Uzbekistan’s Akhadjon Mukhtorov, despite winning his earlier match 2-0 against the Philippines’ Lord Basaron.
Meanwhile, Lian Al-Rawashdeh (-49kg) won her first two matches — defeating Kyrgyzstan’s Dayana Sultanbekovna (2-0) and Syria’s Jana Sidawi (2-0) — before falling 0-2 in the quarters to Chinese Taipei’s Wang Chih-Ling.
Jordan’s taekwondo team will continue its participation tomorrow (Sunday), with Ahmad Al-Rabab’ah, Ahmad Al-Dahamsheh, and Zainab Basileh competing, in addition to the mixed team event.
