Oct 25, 2025
Jordan’s Mahmoud Al-Tarayra has won the bronze medal today, Saturday, at the World Taekwondo Championships held in Wuxi, China.
Al-Tarayra secured the bronze medal in the -63 kg category, marking Jordan’s second medal in the tournament after Fadia Al-Kharfan claimed bronze on Friday.
This is Al-Tarayra’s second consecutive World Championship bronze, as he had also earned the same medal in the previous edition.
He began his campaign with a 2-0 victory over Serbia’s Uros Bielanovic in the Round of 64, followed by another 2-0 win against Thailand’s Napat in the Round of 32. He continued his strong form, defeating Australia’s Matthew Summerfield 2-0 in the Round of 16.
In the quarter-finals, Al-Tarayra delivered an impressive performance, overcoming China’s Liang Yushuai - the Tokyo 2020 Olympic bronze medalist and 2022 world champion - with a 2-1 victory.
Unfortunately, an injury prevented Al-Tarayra from competing in the semi-final bout against Tunisia’s Mohamed Khalil Jendoubi, the Tokyo 2020 Olympic silver medalist and Paris 2024 Olympic bronze medalist.
