Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Feisal Al Hussein, President of the Jordan Olympic Committee, the JOC organised the Sports Safety Conference on Wednesday at the King Hussein Bin Talal Convention Centre at the Dead Sea, with wide participation from representatives of sports federations and relevant stakeholders.
The conference featured four panel sessions that addressed key issues in the field of sports safety. These include mechanisms for integrating the Sports Safety Strategy into federations’ annual plans; ways to build safe environments within sports teams; highlighting athletes’ rights and reporting/support channels; as well as the role of the media and technology in promoting safe sport.
Rana Al-Saeed, JOC Secretary General, emphasised that the Sports Safety Strategy represents a pioneering national initiative aimed at protecting athletes and ensuring their physical and mental well-being, in line with global directions led by the International Olympic Committee.
She added that the strategy reflects the JOC’s vision of providing a sustainable, safe, fair, and inclusive sporting environment for all athletes in the Kingdom, ensuring protection from all forms of abuse and violence while promoting both mental and physical health.
The conference also saw the launch of the visual identity of the Sports Safety Strategy, symbolising the JOC’s commitment to fostering a safe sporting environment for current and future generations.
At the conclusion of the conference, HRH Prince Feisal honoured the Jordan Football Association and the Jordan Athletics Federation in recognition of their efforts as successful models in implementing sports safety standards.
