Sep 13, 2025
Ziad Ishaish has settled for a bronze medal for Jordan after losing his semi-final match at the World Boxing Championships in Liverpool, England.
Ishaish had been in sparkling form in the 70kg weight, blazing his way to the last four with a string of 5-0 victories.
But Japan’s Sewonrets Okazawa proved a formidable opponent and edged the Jordanian, 4-1, in a thrilling contest to reach the final where he then lost to gold medallist Torekhan Sabyrkhan of Kazakhstan.
Ishaish is one of Jordan’s greatest boxers having competed at the last two Olympic games and also winning bronze at the 2018 Asian Games and silver at the 2022 Asian Championships.
