Al-Kasbeh launches world title bid with a win

Jordanian boxer Obada Al-Kasbeh began his campaign at the World Boxing Championships in Liverpool, England, with a victory on Thursday.

Al-Kasbeh defeated Sweden’s Hampus Broman in the Round of 64 of the -65kg category. He will next face Japan’s Shion Nishiyama in the Round of 32 on Sunday.

Sadly his teammate, Yousef Al-Ashish, was eliminated in the -55kg category, after losing his Round of 64 bout to France’s Christopher.

Jordan’s participation continues on Friday, with Huthaifa Al-Ashish (-50kg) set to meet Ireland’s Lewis Rooney in the Round of 32, while Mohammad Al-Hussein (-75kg) will take on India’s Sumit in his opening bout.
