His Royal Highness Prince Feisal Al-Hussein, President of the Jordan Olympic Committee, officially opened the Amman 2025 Asian Open Judo Championship at Princess Sumaya Hall in Al Hussein Youth City, on Monday evening.
The championship, which launched earlier in the day, features 150 male and female athletes representing 19 countries from four continents.
Following the opening ceremony, HRH Prince Feisal crowned the medalists in the women’s -48kg and men’s -60kg weight categories.
The Jordan Judo Federation has spearheaded the event’s organisation to ensure the successful hosting of this prestigious event, which is being in Jordan for the first time.
After the conclusion of the Asian Open Championship, Amman will also host the Asian Junior Cup and the Asian Youth Cup.
The Jordan Judo Federation said that organising these three continental events aligns with its strategy to promote the sport locally, and enhance the technical exposure of Jordanian athletes by competing against diverse playing styles and schools.
