AL-MASATFA SECURES KARATE BRONZE AT WORLD GAMES

Abdulrahman Al-Masatfa has won Jordan’s first medal – a brone - at the 12th World Games hosted in Chengdu, China.
Al-Masatfa claimed his medal in the -67kg category, adding another accolade to his distinguished career, which includes the Tokyo 2020 Olympic bronze medal.
Al-Masatfa topped his group with victories over Japan’s Yugo Kozaki (2-1) and Turkey’s Omer Abdulrahim Ozer (9-0), alongside a 3-3 draw with Montenegro’s Nenad Dulovic.
He advanced to the semi-finals but was defeated by Morocco’s Said Obaya (2-8), before bouncing back in the bronze medal bout with a dominant 10-0 win over Saudi Arabia’s Fahad Al-Khathami.
Jordan’s campaign continues tomorrow with Mohammad Al-Jaafari competing in the -84kg category.
The karate competitions at the World Games feature the world’s top eight athletes in each weight class, qualified through their results at the latest World Championships and their global rankings.
