The Jordan Olympic Committee has underlined its commitment to supporting all of the Kingdom’s athletes’ educational needs by celebrating the International Day of Education with a series of educational workshops titled "Self-Discovery".
Organised by the Jordan Olympic Academy, the educational arm of the JOC, the workshops for national team members included topics relevant to athletes during and after their sports careers such as life skills, sports education, and the transition to professional life after sport.
The workshops are part of the JOC’s commitment to the educational aspect of develoiping Jordanian athletes, and preparing them for continuing their practical and academic journeys after concluding their sports careers.
Eighty athletes from various sports and age groups took part, including Olympians who shared their success stories, like Abdulrahman Masatfa, the karate bronze medallist from the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
Rana Al-Saeed, JOC Secretary General, emphasised the committee’s commitment to the educational system, stating: “The workshops have contributed to providing participants from various national teams with essential knowledge and wisdom to advance in both their professional and sports lives.
“While our champions represent Jordan in various international events, it is our responsibility to ensure their personal growth and success continues after the end of their sports careers, and this programme will help us achieve this.”
The annual International Day of Education, established by the United Nations General Assembly, emphasises the importance of educational in the lives of athletes and its role in achieving development and peace.
