FOUR MEDALS FOR YOUNG KARATE TEAM AT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

Jordan have won a record four medals, including two gold, at the World Karate Federation Junior, Cadet &U21 Championships taking place in Santiago, Chile.
Saeed Al Najjar took gold in the -52kg division by beating Germany’s Azmir Mohammad in the final having earlier beaten Vladimir Arkhedove (Russia), Alexander Bullin (Poland) and Kostov Bojan (Macedonia).
Mohammad Al Jafari added the second gold by beating Hussam Ghanim, from Egypt, in the final of the -70kg weight. That followed earlier wins over Saudi Arabia’s Ahmad Al Malki and Bertolasi Mateus, from Brazil. In quarterfinal he beat Milo Vasco from Portugal before he beat Vasilio Luizos from Cyprus.
Ibrahim Shamoun claimed silver in the +70kg competition, while the bronze as won by Leen Mansour in the -46kg.
Jordan finished second on the medal standings for the day behind Turkey.
