JOC WORKSHOP ON ATHLETE CAREERS AFTER SPORT
Mar 04, 2018
As part of its strategy to provide the best support and advice for its athletes, The Jordan Olympic Committee (JOC) has held a workshop focussing on careers away from sport.
Held in cooperation with Adecco, the workshop was hosted by the JOC’s Athletes Commission and presented by Claudia Buckel, the former IOC Athletes Commission President and Fencing medalist at Athens 2004.
The Athletes Career Programme educates athletes beyond their sports career and prepares them for life after sport.
JOC Secretary General, Nasser Majali, opened the workshop by highlighting the importance of education and why athletes need to receive the best advice possible about what is available to them after their sporting career is over.
Athletes Commission manager and IOC Athletes Commission member Nadin Dawani pointed out that the workshop will support athletes in making the right choices that will be important for their long term futures.
Buckel’s presentation centred around three core factors of Education, Career and Life Skills.
