When the West Asia Table Tennis Championships get underway today (Thursday) in Aqaba, one of the host nation’s team will be hoping to make a big statement.
Bara' Wedyan is one of Jordan’s big hopes for medals in the seniors female category and she intends to use the event to send a clear message that she is ready to step up to the international stage.
“I have a huge ambition to achieve in international competitions, so with the championship being held here in Jordan, it will encourage players like me to do our best,” she said.
She will be up against the best players from Saudi Arabia, UAE, Iraq, Bahrain, Palestine and Oman over the coming days with the tournament running at the Rosary College through to Sunday.
As well as the adults event, there are also U18 and U15 championships for male and female.
“It has been a tough training camp to prepare for this weekend but now the talking is over we have to show what we can do on the court,” she said.
