Just a week after winning the Arab U18 Golf Championships in Tunisia, Shergo Kurdi has arrived in his native Jordan to lead the Kingdom’s bid for honours at the 37th Arab Championships being held in Ayla, Aqaba this weekend.
Players from 11 nations are entered for the tournament being organised by the Jordan Golf Federation, with the Greg Norman-designed course set to provide a tough challenge to the region’s best.
"We are delighted to have the honour of hosting this prestigious Championship,” said Hani Al Abdullat, President of the Jordan Golf Federation.
"We have been preparing everything for the arrival of the players and officials and expect a very successful tournament.
“I am also confident that our own players, like Shergo, who is still only 14, can be competitive.”
Nations taking part include Palestine, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Oman, Egypt, Bahrain, Tunisia, Morocco and Jordan.
