JORDAN OPEN WORLD CUP CAMPAIGN AGAINST AUSTRIA AT DAWN

Jordan launch their historic first World Cup finals campaign when they face Austria at 7AM on Wednesday, Jordan time (9PM Tuesday, San Francisco time).

The match will take place at the San Francisco Bay Area Stadium in Group J, which also includes Argentina and Algeria who meet three hours earlier.

During the pre-match press conference, the technical director of the national team, Jamal Sellami, emphasised that Jordan’s presence in the World Cup is the fruit of extensive hard work over the past years.
He pointed out that the team could be the golden generation, given that it possesses a group of promising players capable of continued development.

Sellami added: "We are excited to begin our journey in the tournament against Austria. We are well aware of the opponent's strength, but we believe in our ability to achieve a positive result."

He also praised the significant role of the Jordanian fans, stressing that they are accustomed to providing support and backing in various arenas, and that the players look forward to making them proud with a big performance.

Skipper, Ehsan Haddad, said that the playing of the Royal Anthem of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan at the World Cup would be a moment of immense pride and honor for all Jordanians, asserting that this moment serves as an additional incentive for the players to give their best.

Haddad said: "The players are ready and morale is high. We respect the Austrian team, but we are ready to give everything we have to secure three points to start our campaign."

After Austria, Jordan will meet Algeria at 6AM on Tuesday, June 23 back at the San Francisco Bay Area Stadium, before concluding the group stage against Argentina at 5AM on Sunday, June 28, in Dallas, noting that all times are in Jordan time.
