AL-DAWOOD WINS BRONZE AT TAEKWONDO GRAND PRIX

Jaafar Al-Dawood has won the bronze medal at the Taekwondo Grand Prix competition in the Italian capital, Rome.
Al-Dawood’s bronze medal came in the -58kg category, following an impressive run during which he secured three consecutive victories.
He opened his campaign by defeating Brazil's Giovani Aubin de Moraes (2-0) in the round of 32, before overcoming Greece's Aristidis Nikolaos Psarros (2-0) in the round of 16.
He continued his brilliant run in the quarter-finals with victory over Egypt’s Moataz Assem (2-0), before bowing out in the semi-finals to Italy’s Vito Dell’Aquila, the Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion.
But the last four-spot secured a bronze medal to boost Al-Dawood’s world ranking.
The Taekwondo Grand Prix features an elite group of the world’s top athletes, with the participation of 255 male and female players representing 51 countries.
